News from Sanderling House

Summer has arrived at last and the whole area is bursting with brilliant colors and blossom. We have many visitors arriving to spend timeon their boats and our neighbors, Nortons Marina and Sail school are already prepared for their sailing lessons. Our visitors are seeing the boats on the creek making the most of our fabulous weather and are getting their boats ready with tackle for the good  fishing they are looking forward to; let's hope the fish are in abundance as they were last year!

The yard has seen the bloom of  the spring flowers and now we are looking forward to the summer colors which are very strong this year, if the dear haven't eaten them first! I have to say the deer have been very hungry this winter and spring and have eaten almost anything green, however, we are busy working, introducing different plants to be enjoyed throughout the year. Our faithful humming birds have returned (around the middle of May)  and the migratory birds passing over have stopped to feast on our plentiful berries. We are on a route now for several species to come and raid our yard to sustain them on their long flights north then likewise south in the fall.

It is a pleasure to sit on our deck, overlooking Broad Creek and relax with your beverage of choice, cookies to delight your taste, air which is pure to breathe: such restful surroundings, the gazebo by the water is just delightful as well.
